Eddy Ancinas Bio
Eddy Ancinas is an award-winning non-fiction author, an avid ski journalist and a travel writer/photographer specializing in Argentina and Latin America, ski history and the California West. Eddy has lived a life of adventure and writes about it passionately.
She has published articles on Argentina, Chile, and Perú in the San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe and LA Times, plus six editions of Fodor’s Argentina Guide.
Eddy’s latest book, Tracing Inca Trails: An Adventure in the Andes—a true adventure story of an epic 7-day horseback journey with two women friends in the Peruvian Andes—was a Finalist for the 2022 Best Book Awards in Travel (Essays and Guides).
Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows:Tales from Two Valleys, Eddy’s book on the history of two ski areas (now one: Alpine Meadows and Palisades-Tahoe), received the SKADE Award for outstanding works on regional ski history.
Her story of a cattle roundup in Elko, Nevada, “Back in the Saddle,” won the 2010 Nevada Magazine Writers’ Contest.
After growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area and on a nearby cattle ranch, she and her gregarious Argentine husband raised their family in Squaw Valley, California. Eddy is fluent in Spanish
